Chedworth Roman Villa

Gloucestershire

Integral were part of the team to improve the visitor experience at this statutorily protected scheduled monument providing shelters to conserve the mosaics and facilities for education, reception and refreshment. Working with the architects we successfully delivered to the National Trust environmentally controlled timber shelters which blend into the landscape and allow the mosaics to be properly viewed without any adverse effect on the unique archaeology and ecology of the site. Designing the suspended walkway required significant understanding of vibration and harmonics and careful liaison with the archaeology team. We oversaw the Scheduled Monument Consent applications and liaison with Historic England and the Highways Agency for the civil engineering enabling works on the site.

“Integral provided innovative solutions for a sensitive archaeological site and the Trust is very pleased with both the new buildings.”
