Bloomsbury Theatre, UCL is on course to celebrate its fiftieth anniversary.

13 April 2018

Integral have been working on the structural engineering services for this complex refurbishment of the Bloomsbury Theatre.

The recent finalisation of the existing truss strengthening means we are one step closer to completion. This will allow for the loading of a new roof level plant deck, while also ensuring the auditorium is well ventilated to provide a healthy environment for the wellbeing of users and visitors.

The main challenge has been co-ordinating the work to allow for continual use of other areas, which are open to students, keeping disruption to a minimum whilst extending the usability of the existing theatre.

Completing the structural works a BIM level 2 model was used to fully co-ordinate the design and ensure that the client design aspirations were met. We anticipate a successful opening this Autumn!

‘This cutting-edge revamp will give student societies and productions the full benefits of a 21st century theatre and create the opportunity for collaboration between academics, artists, performers, directors and companies.’
