Mike is looking forward to expanding his knowledge and experience by undertaking the engineering on a range of projects, using different structural materials. He is particularly keen to design in CLT, learn AutoDesk Revit and the design of civil elements. He has begun work on our Calverley Square Theatre project.
His previous experience includes a range of refurbishment projects (mainly RC frames) and new steel- framed buildings. Mike has been undertaking a part-time MSc and his dissertation assesses the embodied carbon of CLT, concrete and steel and their associated transportation emissions from manufacturer to site. This involved evaluating a new two storey school which was relocated to three locations within the UK (London, South-west, and the North) and looking at the manufacturers, fabricators, suppliers and distributors around the three areas including the transportation distances and their associated carbon impact.
Outside of work Mike likes to socialise with friends, travel to new places and keep active by running and cycling. He completed the Bournemouth Half Marathon in October 2018 and hopes to extend this to a full marathon in the near future.
