Bloomsbury Theatre revamp, University College London (UCL)

Integral Engineering Design provided the structural engineering services for this complex refurbishment of the UCL Bloomsbury Theatre. The building was constructed in 1968 and the theatre is used for both student and commercial productions. In addition to the theatre, the building contains a range of different functions including the UCLU Fitness Centre. A high degree of co-ordination was required to design new plant and service routes and strengthening requirements. One of the primary aims of the project was to have the refurbishment completed in time for the Theatre’s 50th anniversary in 2018.
