Integral designed a new building for the relocation of The Bath Renal Satellite Unit (BRSU) to the Royal United Hospitals site. The design was for a replacement unit to enable important care to continue to be provided close to where patients lived. The proposal was for a 20 station unit on the site of an existing carpark, the site was constrained by existing hospital buildings, roads and car parks. With limited space externally the plant spaces and surface water drainage had to be carefully considered. The plant was partially located within a screened area on the roof to maximise the ground floor space available. The surface water attenuation storage was fitted between existing trees and roads. The building design was for a single storey steel frame with the internal treatment spaces kept clear of structural columns to provide a pleasant environment for the patients.
