Country House

Integral undertook the structural and civil engineering to place a new swimming pool and associated refurbishment in the courtyard of this Georgian Grade I listed building. The client has gradually been refurbishing the building and its grounds and was keen to put an indoor pool within an internal courtyard in the heart of the listed structure. At the same time the breakfast room, kitchen, larders and garden rooms were to be repaired and updated with some significant structural alterations. The main engineering challenge lay in forming the pool below foundation level without damaging the existing building. The architectural and engineering design needed very tight coordination in order to achieve a high quality result in such a constricted space.
