Building 4 Newark Works

Bath

Building 4 Newark Works is part of the wider Bath Quays South regeneration and is one of four buildings that make up the Grade II listed Newark Works. Building 4 completes the transformation of these Victorian industrial buildings, once home to Stothert and Pitt Ltd, into vibrant and creative office spaces.

The existing steel frame was originally constructed in the 1920s and our approach was to conserve as much of the original building fabric as possible. We assessed the condition and capacity of the existing structure for the change of use and developed a structural solution that enabled reuse of the existing foundations, facilitated a new full height glazed facade and enabled existing steels to be refabricated to fit into the new layout. Some new steel was needed but limited to where absolutely required.
