North Quay House

The scheme will retain but redevelop the existing 1980s quayside office block owned by Legal & General UK Property Fund. The four-storey, steel-frame corner extension will provide a new double height atrium entrance and additional office space. New cladding on the existing facades will enhance the building’s environmental performance and a level, landscaped courtyard and interior refurbishment will complete the project. Engaging a cladding contractor early in the design process proved beneficial in seeking a solution for the new facade that delivers the client’s aspiration without requiring significant alteration or strengthening of the existing structure. The client has a strong sustainability ethic and so low carbon materials, including cross laminated timber floor slabs, are included in the design which aspires to achieve BREEAM Excellent accreditation.
