New homes for Sydenham

Zanara Court in Sydenham, South London, has reached completion.
It is an example of the type of residential project that Integral enjoy undertaking due to some complex structural challenges. Working with architects from Nissen Richards studio, Integral used their technical expertise to allow the developer to maximise the use of this tight brown field site. This mixed use development provides 19 new apartments across 2 buildings and includes a basement.
The development infills the existing Edwardian frontage onto Sydenham Road with a retail unit onto the street. Integral designed the front building as a concrete frame with a basement to maximise space. A secant piled wall construction was adopted that was propped during construction preventing movement of the neighbouring buildings. The concrete frame provides acoustic separation between the retail and residential units and allowed flexibility on the service runs through the building. Concrete transfer walls are provided to support large openings within the penthouse duplex apartments. A lightweight timber frame roof forms a series of gables to the street elevation echoing the design of the neighbouring properties.
